Builders of creative, high-quality handcrafted Canadian log homes

Darcy Benjamin, owner of Mile High Log Homes, has been building for 15 years. He started his career in Lumby, British Columbia, with Highland Logbuilders, later called Unique Timber Corp. He was fortunate to be taught by some of the best master builders in the industry using up-to-date techniques and precision joinery. He soon formed his own company - at first building for the local market. Then in 1997 he ventured to Northern Europe (Germany and Norway) for five years, to live, build, learn and be inspired by old-world craftsmanship and culture. He established a company and built onsite with local timber, cooperating with local builders and sub-trades, introducing Canadian handcrafted log building "hands-on". Their wood home construction in combination with the use of other natural materials (such as stonework and grass roofs) has greatly influenced the design and construction of our log homes. Darcy was accepted into the "Handwerksrolle" in Germany (Handcrafters Guild) as a "Spezialist fuer kanadische Rundstammbauweise", which is a recognition of high-quality craftsmanship.
Since 2004 darcy and his wife Smone have been established on Vancouver Island and have now relocated to the Interior of British Columbia where they try to live a self-sustainable life off the grid and design and build beautiful log homes.
